Quantifying the Bull’s Eye Effect
نویسندگان
چکیده
We have used N-body simulations to develop two independent methods to quantify redshift distortions known as the Bull’s Eye effect (large scale infall plus small scale virial motion). This effect depends upon the mass density, Ω0, so measuring it can in principle give an estimate of this important cosmological parameter. We are able to measure the effect and distinguish between its strength for high and low values of Ω0. Unlike other techniques which utilize redshift distortions, one of our methods is relatively insensitive to bias. In one approach, we use path lengths between contour crossings of the density field. The other is based upon percolation. We have found both methods to be successful in quantifying the effect and distinguishing between values of Ω0. However, only the path lengths method exhibits low sensitivity to bias. Subject headings: cosmology – large scale structure

Multiple Attribute Decision-making Model of Grey Target Based on Positive and Negative Bull’s-eye
AbstractAiming at complexity and uncertainty of actual decision-making environment, this study proposes a multiple attribute decision-making model of grey target based on positive and negative bull’s-eye. Firstly, it defines that the optimal effect vector and the worst effect vector of grey target decision are respectively positive, negative bull’s-eye of the grey target; secondly, comprehensiv...
متن کاملEffective Aid for Hitting the Bull’s Eye; Comment on “It’s About the Idea Hitting the Bull’s Eye”: How Aid Effectiveness Can Catalyse the Scale-up of Health Innovations”
This article studies how six key aid effectiveness principles for “Hitting the bull’s eye” can bring about the scale up of maternal and newborn health (MNH) interventions. These key principles are based on accepted international agreements such as the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness. The results indicate that the six principles should be a guide for recipient countries to take ownership ...
متن کاملV-band Bull’s eye antenna for CubeSat applications
We simulate and measure the radiation pattern of a V-band “Bull’s eye” antenna for communication between CubeSats. We also propose a modification that allows the beam direction to be arbitrarily chosen over a ±20° range, useful for swarms where CubeSats must communicate with more than one neighbour. The “Bull’s eye” antenna offers high gain in a low profile, which makes it readily integrable in...
متن کاملV-band Bull’s Eye Antenna for Multiple Discretely-Steerable Beams
We present a new approach to designing V-band Bull’s eye antenna so as to produce multiple beams, which are either fixed or discretely steerable. Bull’s eye antennas comprise concentric rings around a subwavelength aperture. Beam deflection is accomplished by adjusting the effective spacing of the rings, which we explain in terms of the coupling angle to free space and surface waves. We show th...
